Melissa Hessock is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and holds dual licensure from the State of Tennessee as a Registered Nurse and an Advanced Practice Nurse. She is a proud UTK alum, having earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Troy State University. Her clinical experience includes family medicine, however, the vast majority of her career has been focused on women’s health.
Melissa joined the Student Health Center in 2023 as a part-time Nurse Practitioner in the Women’s Health Clinic and holds a full-time faculty appointment in the College of Nursing.
Students are seen in the Women’s Health Clinic by appointment. Services available include preventive health examinations, cervical cancer screening, birth control, infection screening and treatment, and health counseling. Lab test results are generally conveyed through a secure portal link sent via a student’s VolMail account. Be sure to check your VolMail for these notifications. If you experience a new problem or are not improving as expected, please return for a follow-up appointment.
