Darrell L. Smith, M.D. is a native of East Tennessee. He earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from the University of Tennessee in 1978. Dr. Smith attended East Tennessee State University Quillen School of Medicine and earned his Doctorate of Medicine in May, 1985. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Tennessee Memorial Research Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Prior to joining the staff of the Student Health Center, Dr. Smith had twenty-two years of private practice experience in the East Tennessee area.
General Information for Students:
Dr. Smith not only sees patients virtually via telehealth appointments but also in person in the Primary Care Clinic and Physical Exam Section. Dr. Smith also serves as the Director of the Physical Exam Section for Special Purpose Physicals. Most patients are seen by appointment. You can schedule an appointment by speaking with our telephone triage nurse at (865) 974-5080.
If lab tests are performed on you and those tests return with abnormal results either myself or my nurse will be contacting you. If you need to contact either me or my nurse, please call (865) 974-2270. If you are feeling worse or not improving as expected, please call (865) 974-5080 to schedule a follow-up appointment. I will not call in antibiotic prescriptions without seeing you.
